Flatwater Canoes
Planning to purchase a canoe? It is important to think of what kind of water conditions you plan to paddle.” Flatwater” paddling refers to lakes, slow rivers and the sea. We offer a selection of new models from Clipper and Hellman and on occasion have good used canoes.
The flatwater tripping canoe tends to be longer (16 to 19ft) and therefore a little faster, and with a bigger payload capacity that can accommodate camping gear, or for day trips, a third person.
Models to Consider:
16 to 17ft: Clipper Yukon 16ft 8ins – a base model, solid bottom, no frills comes in white colour fibreglass layup. For a longer canoe, with 7 hull colour choices in fibreglass or Kevlar, the Clipper Ranger is offered with seat options of tractor or wood web style.
Hellman canoes are built with a different , lightweight layup with the 16ft
Quetico suitable for day trips, the 16ft 6ins Kootenay being a deeper and bigger volume for family use, the 17ft 6 ins Prospector suitable for longer trips and the 18ft 5ins Cruiser for family long trips with space for extra gear.
RENTING?
We rent several different models of canoes, some mentioned in the foregoing notes.
For flatwater, rent a lightweight canoe for $45.00 the first day, $70.00 for 2 days and $175 for a week. Paddles, PFD’s and ropes ( or straps) included. We offer a SPECIAL RATE with an extra free day for Labour Day weekend or week.
We are pleased to take special orders for Nimbus Kayaks & Boréal Design sea kayaks (our stock & factory stock available), Clipper & Hellman canoes.
