We enjoy our canoeing, but do we ever think that some day we might capsize in some unexpected way. A large wave from a passing speed boat or a large ship, or on a windy day headed home. Having another canoe nearby could save your day and your life. Our local recreation canoe club, the Beaver Canoe Club, based in Burnaby teaches our members that Boat over Boat can be the quickest and safest way back in your boat, when the water is cold as it mostly is on the West Coast. We show a picture of the capsized canoe having been hauled up over the rescue canoe and the paddler still in the water until the rescuer tells him when to get back into the rescued, now dry boat. This swimmer was wearing a dry suit.
